About me

Lifelong visual creator who first started using design software in 1991 to help my father with his T-shirt printing business. Having been an autodidact in video production, I now use DaVinci Resolve and film b-roll, interviews and events.

Coffee gets my day going, I enjoy superb eats and physical exercise has been a routine part of my life for more than two decades. As a stickler for quality and admirer of human brilliance I must say that I am inspired by skilled artisans and sharp minds.

What’s on my Table?

Suddenly Something Clicked is Walter Murch’s brand new book and second offering coming out 24 years after the 2nd edition of In the Blink of an Eye. Having read his first must-have book I simply had to get this one. Walter Murch is not only a master of film editing but is also a polymath and a terrific author!

New Work!

This is the first video I shot in 2025 using the Pyxis 6k and DZO Vespid lenses. My Sony A7RV + Ninja V were used to record ProRes RAW for the secondary interview angle and gimbal footage. All of the footage is 12-bit as I did not want to incorporate any 10-bit S-Log3 files in conjunction with the Pyxis’ glorious BRAW codec. I also used my Zoom H5 with its shotgun mic attachment on a boom pole for the first time with this interview and am very pleased with DaVinci’s Fairlight tuning of the vocal files. At the end of last year, I assisted a shoot in downtown D.C. and have since carried with me a tip from that project’s cinematographer, Dennis Boni. His thinking was that 48 fps was too much of an “anatomical study” for the Hero Shot, and that 36 fps was the correct solution. So, I shot in “off speed recording” on the Pyxis using this concept for all of the non-gimbal slow motion shots.

This is for TMS, the global transportation company that handled all of the buses for the NVMA event at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The intent was to infuse a traditional event recap style of video while showcasing their expertise of getting people to the venue. There was an additional motion graphic overlay implemented by another company after my final delivery.
